Why iPhone Not Charging – Reasons
Well, many people ask that if my iPhone is not getting charged then do I need to replace it with a new battery. Well, most probably, you don’t need to buy a new battery. There could be several reasons your iPhone won’t charge:
1. Software Problem
Did you know that it is the software (iOS) that decides whether to charge the battery or not. It is not that you simply plug-in the charging adapter and switch ON the Power Source and the Battery will start charging. If your iPhone is not charging then chances are that something is wrong with the software.
2. Hardware Problem
If the software is OK, then there could be following hardware problems:
• The Charging Port is Dirty
• The Power Source and Charging Hardware (Charging Cable, Power Adapter) are Loose.
• The Power Adapter or Charging Cable is Damaged
• The Charging Hardware are Not Apple Certified

2. The Power Source and Charging Hardware (Charging Cable, Power Adapter) are Loose
Make sure the charging adapter and charging cable are properly inserted and firm. Also make sure there is power in the power outlet.
You can try to charge your iPhone with the USB of the Laptop. Sometimes it works.
3. The Power Adapter or Charging Cable is Damaged
Try to charge another iPhone with your Adapter and cable. If it works then your adapter and cable are fine. Otherwise, try to charge your iPhone with another Apple certified adapted and cable.
4. The Charging Hardware are Not Apple Certified
Make sure you are using only Apple certified hardware. Hardware not certified by Apple may give problems.
iPhone Charging Issue FAQs
How can I fix my iPhone not charging issue?
First, make sure that your charger and cable are working properly. Try cleaning the charging port with a soft-bristled brush or compressed air. If that doesn't work, try resetting your iPhone or restoring it to its factory settings. If none of these solutions work, it may be a hardware issue, and you should take your iPhone to an authorized repair center.
Can I charge my iPhone with any charger?
While it is technically possible to charge your iPhone with any charger, Apple recommends using an Apple-branded charger or a charger that is certified by Apple. Using a non-certified charger can cause damage to your iPhone and may even be dangerous.
How long should it take for my iPhone to charge fully?
The length of time it takes to charge an iPhone fully depends on the model and the charging method. Typically, an iPhone can be charged fully in 2-3 hours using a wall charger or 3-4 hours using a computer's USB port.
Can a software update fix my iPhone not charging issue?
In some cases, a software update can fix issues related to charging. However, if the issue is related to a faulty charger or cable or a damaged charging port, a software update will not fix the issue.
Final Words
In over 90% of cases, a Hard Reset or cleaning of the charging port does the job and the iPhone starts charging. If you have gone through all of the steps mentioned above and the problem is still not fixed, then most probably it is time to visit the Apple Store.
